Spring Pines

Scott Addis

Oil on Panel

H 9in x W 7in

The majesty of a grove of pines and a colorful sky behind them is captured in this small oil painting by Scott Addis. It is an impressionist painting with a very dramatic sky.
Scott Addis was born in 1963 raised in Liesenring, Pennsylvania, a small rural town where he grew to love nature from a young age. His first teacher was his father, who taught him to love art and appreciate the outdoors through hunting and fishing trips where they would spend hours sketching. As a young man Addis moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where he studied at the University of Cincinnati as well as with Igor Babailov and other well-known art teachers. Being a landscape artist, Addis is now inspired by what surrounds him, the landscapes of Quebec and Ontario.
About his paintings, Addis says: "I paint landscapes because it is said, and I strongly believe it, that when you look at a portrait you observe the person, the subject. However, when you look at a landscape, you can plunge into it. One can easily imagine oneself being there."
Above all, what Addis seeks is that people be touched emotionally by his paintings. Addis is represented by many galleries in Canada and the United States.
