Love of artistic expression started early for Young through scholastic and extracurricular art classes. Young’s talent was recognized within the high school she attended and in the Scholastic Arts. Young graduated Kutztown University as an Art major where her passion for photography developed with her first SLR camera. She transferred from Kutztown to Antonelli Institute of Art and Photography in Flourtown, Pennsylvania and graduated 5th in her class in 1988. Young then entered into the field as a professional portrait photographer. In 1998 certain medical issues caused the physical demands of this work to be unsustainable for her. In 2004 she was drawn to the serenity of orchids as a result of exacerbation of her Multiple Sclerosis (MS). While attending Botanical Orchid shows, the inspiration to capture their tranquility drew her back to her passion of photography. Recently married at the GoggleWorks Center for the Arts in Reading, Pennsylvania, Young seized the chance to display her photographs as the decor. Guests and gallery staff alike were greatly impressed by her work. Young's orchid photography made its debue this summer at a juried exhibition and was displayed in GoggleWorks Café Gallery.
