Valerie Ryan lives and works in Ottawa. She has a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from Queen's and a master's degree in Fine Arts from the University in Saskatchewan. She has been exhibiting her paintings from over 30 years, as well as teaching art at various institutions, including the National Gallery of Canada. Her larger canvas are, often, based on small watercolours done on location. These loose and impulsive sketches present many painting possibilities that are later explored in the studio. Valerie's colourful and expressive landscape paintings are in the collection of the City of Ottawa, City of Brampton, External Affairs, Canada, as well as many corporate and private collections.
