Family is a central theme in the work of Jillian Banks. Banks has shown with Cole Pratt Gallery since 1995, and throughout the years, her whimsical ceramic figures have performed the most incredible balancing acts. Acrobats, dogs, and horses are all pieced together as allegories of family interaction.
Banks holds a BFA in Ceramic Sculpture from the California College of Arts and Crafts (1988). She lived in New Orleans for a brief stint before returning to her native California. She also illustrates children's books and works in graphic design.
