My formal education is comprised of horticulture and greenhouse/nursery management. I was employed in this field until I retired.
During my horticulture career I began painting, but only after retirement did I devote all my time to this endeavor. I found interpreting botanicals was what I liked best. I express my ideas using a mixed media of: acrylic paint, wire, glass, beads, paper, fabric and foils in collages resembling nature. Through much of my work I focus on botanicals. I interpret gardens and nature through the use of bright colors and textures - appealing to all senses.
Like the sun in nature, light plays an important role in my work. The reflective quality in the paintings makes them appear jewel-like with a signature happy and spirited nature.
Our natural world is complex, layered and meaningful. This is the spirit I strive to achieve through my artwork.
