Note Neva, a bay filly, by Cervantes, out of Mary, was foaled in 1814. In 1817, she won the 1,000 Guineas with Bill Arnell up and The Oaks with Frank Buckle up. Neva was the first filly to win both races in the same year and was trained by the noted trainer Dixon Boyce, who also trained five Epsom Derby winners over the course of his career.
