Keith Haring (1958-1990, American) - Untitled, American Flag. Offset Lithograph measuring 24" x 16" unframed and ships free in the US. The image was created as a flyer for the "American Music Festival – New York City Ballet” (1988.) Haring utilizes his signature cartoon figures, placing them against the flag leaping, dancing, and tumbling down the flag, while hitting and nudging the stars and stripes as they make their way down the poster. It's hilariously tongue-in-cheek, as Haring's artworks always were. Keith Haring's pop-graffiti art depicts fluid, bold outlines against imagery such as babies, barking dogs, flying saucers, hearts, and Mickey Mouse. In his subway drawings and murals, Haring explored the 1970s and 1980s themes of exploitation, subjugation, drug abuse, rising fears of nuclear holocaust, and AIDS, with which he was diagnosed. Haring is regarded as a leading figure in the '70s and '80s East Village of New York art scene.
