Form, oil on canvas, 24x24” 2016 I often think about the simple yet profound mechanics of the body. The motion of joints, the balance of form. This acrobatic couple stirs that train of thought. I also think about who they are as people, what their personalities are like, and how they interact with each other. I think about their partnership. I wonder about the mechanics of relationships for us all, and the interior geometry of the body and mind that we all shape, navigate, and craft as individuals and in relationships. An 1897 Minerology book reflects these ideas visually through illustrations which inspired the designs on the right side of the painting.
