The Olson House, Cushing, Maine, a study of the back of the house (viewed from the other side in Wyeth's iconic "Christina's World,"), gifted to Christina herself,plein air, mixed media on paper, painted in 1942 (per the Farnsworth Museum Curator). Inscribed lower right: "To Christina and Alvaro, from Betsy and Andy", with tag on back that reads "Property of Mrs. Betty Olson, Cushing, Me." In black stick frame, matted and glazed, OS: 17 1/2" x 27 1/2", SS: 10 3/4" x 21 1/4". Scattered foxing in the sky. Per the consignor, John W. Olson, Sr.: "My wife and I walked up to the house shortly after Christina passed (Jan 1968). She had never been through the house, so I gave her a tour and showed her the room where I was born. My father came shortly after we got there to start cleaning things out.
