Denise Mahlke 2 Day Workshop - Oct. 30 & 31 $180 As a landscape painter, going to the source of our inspiration is key to understanding the subtle value and color shifts as well as aerial and linear perspective. Time spent observing, sketching and painting outdoors will enable you to paint more effectively indoors, especially when using photographic reference. This outdoor sketching workshop will focus on how to edit and simplify a scene using the fundamentals of drawing and design to help clarify and express your emotional response to it. Through various, fun drawing exercises, using a limited value range, this workshop will help produce stronger design and enable you to paint more effectively outdoors and in the studio. Day One After an introduction and discussion of handout materials, we will go to work directly from the landscape, using graphite, charcoal, and/or markers. Through various drawing exercises, we will explore different subjects using line, shape, edges, and value.
