Salvador Dali (1904-1989, Spain) “The Proud Ones” Purgatory Canto 11 from Dalí’s series titled ‘The Divine Comedy’ illustrating Dante Alighieri’s poem of the journey from Inferno to Purgatory to Paradise. This piece depicts several abstract figures in muted hues of green, red, brown and blue. It is an original color woodblock print on paper from Dali’s 1954 watercolor. The piece is estate stamped in the lower margin, measures 13 x 10 inches (33 x 25.4 cm), and with mat and frame, it is 20.5 x 16.5 inches.
