Marc Chagall (1887-1985, Russian/French) “Le Bouquet Clair” (The Light Bouquet) – This image was created in 1970 and is a limited-edition color lithograph featuring a pencil signature in the lower right and numbered 36/100 in the lower left. The artwork has been taken out of the frame and upon inspection, the edges are discolored with age. The sheet measures 30 x 22 and the piece has been re-matted and framed measuring 30.5 x 24.5 inches. Vibrant primary colors characterize this vase of flowers, lighted by a brilliant sun. The work of art contains Chagall’s often-used images including a loving couple hovering in the background, a small horse amidst the flowers, and a male figure in the lower right corner--perhaps an artist holding up a brush, or perhaps an orchestra leader preparing to conduct.
