Robert Wyland (b. 1956, American) “Children of the Sea” (1983) is a unique piece consisting of an offset lithograph in color enhanced by an original watercolor remarque by the California/Hawaiian artist. The work of art is signed and numbered 204/300 in gold marker and signed again in pencil under the remarque. The image measures 30 x 22.5 inches, and the framed piece measures 47 x 39.5 inches. The framing consists of Hawaiian Koa wood, a lining of linen, another layer of wood, and another mat of linen custom designed for the art and enclosed under glass. “Children of the Sea” is one of Wyland’s early works and one of his favorites. It features Pacific bottlenose dolphins in their ocean home. The artist also recreated this image as a bronze sculpture.
