(After) Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988) “Untitled (Skull)” - This reproduction is a limited edition (of/150) lithograph with the printed signature/moniker of Basquiat. It is based on the (almost) 7 x 6-foot original acrylic, crayon, oil stick and mixed media on canvas that the neo-expressionist artist painted in 1981. The image features a face in the shape of a skull filled with graffiti consisting of abstract lines, shapes, and colors. It is a dismal dichotomy of dark skin, hair, and eyes co-existing with skeletal bare teeth and a skinless jaw. Basquiat often created his American Neo-Expressionist art based on images from the Gray’s Anatomy book that his mother gave him as a child. The unframed sheet measures approximately 15 x 11 inches.
