(After) Roy Lichtenstein (1923 – 1997, American), “Blue Nude” (1994) is a limited-edition silkscreen reproduction, hand-numbered 189/199 with Signature Imprimee. The sheet measures 76 x 51 cm (30 x 22.5 inches) and the image dimensions are 23 x 17 inches. In this image, Lichtenstein features mirrors within mirrors, reflections within reflections, and interiors, all in the form of a still life. Also depicted is a sassy blond female nude reminiscent of the artist’s early cartoon paintings, and his signature Ben-Day dots used to create gradations of shading. In 1995, Lichtenstein also created an oil and magna painting on canvas of “Blue Nude” that measured 81 x 60 inches and sold for $5.3 million dollars at Sotheby’s in 2005.
