Hand signed in the lower right, the work is 17 x 23 in. (43.18 x 58.42 cm) and with the mat and frame it measures 25 x 31 in. (63.5 x 78.74 cm). Close examination of the painting reveals the artist’s maturity, detail, and brilliant blending of colors. Desmont is a self-taught painter of landscapes, nature, the snow, and the sky who was inspired by Suzanne Valadon and Maurice Utrillo. She was further encouraged and influenced in her work by well-known artist, Urbain Huchet.
