Alexander Khomsky (b. 1954, Russian/American) “Sound of Music” – Oil on canvas painting, hand signed in the lower right and on the verso, measuring 33.5 x 29.5 inches and surrounded by an ornate gold-colored wooden frame measuring 38.5 x 34.5 inches. Featured are a man sitting with a guitar across his lap and a woman wearing a hat, seemingly in motion and playing the maracas. Next to him is a small table with wine and fruit and in the background are buildings and a setting sun. The image is bordered with muted color geometric motifs. Russian-born artist Khomsky studied at the prestigious Stroganoff Institute of Decorative and Applied Arts in Moscow during the communist era. After developing an interest in modern contemporary art, he was given the opportunity to exhibit his work in Europe. In 1990, he immigrated to the USA to pursue more artistic freedom. His work has been seen in numerous solo and group shows throughout the USA, Canada and Europe.
