(After) Henri de Toulouse Lautrec (1864 – 1901, France) “Femme Qui Se Lave – La Toilette” (Woman Washing Herself). This faithfully executed replica is a limited edition (1178/1250) lithograph published in 1969 by the Toulouse-Lautrec Circle in London and is embossed with their dry stamp seal. The work was signed in the plate and printed on watermarked wove paper from the same mill in France that was used for the originals. The sheet measures 20.5 x 15.75 inches (the same size as the original) and is lightly mounted onto a support sheet.
The original image was created by the French artist as a color lithograph in 1896 from Lautrec’s “Elles” portfolio in a limited edition of 100 published by Gustave Pellet. Depicted is a voluptuous woman leaning on a basin washing her back. Literary References include DELTEIL 184; ADRIANI 176; WITTROCK 160.
