Larry Zox (1937 – 2006, American) “Grey Sweep I” (1979) Original limited-edition color silk screen/serigraph on wove paper by the abstract expressionist and self-described colorist painter and printmaker. The work of art is hand signed in pencil in the lower right and in the lower left it is numbered (96/160). Also, in the lower left there is an embossed copyright 1979 blind stamp (Ronald D. Saypol?) and in the lower right, an embossed blind stamp of master printer, Larry B. Wright (NY). The unframed sheet measures 42 x 30 inches. This image is a fine example of the Color Field artist’s work, featuring elements of his 1970’s “Open Series” (leaving the centers of his works blank), his Minimalist art, as well as pieces Zox did with cut or cropped canvases.
