Roy Lichtenstein (1923 – 1997, American) "Little Big Painting" - Offset Lithograph. An image from the ‘Brushstrokes’ series used as an exhibit poster for "Roy Lichtenstein, A Retrospective," an exhibition at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, October 14, 2012 - January 13, 2013, published in 2012. 28" x 26." Unframed. The original "Little Big Painting" (1965) is an oil and Magna on canvas pop art painting. It is part of the Brushstrokes series of artworks that include several paintings and sculptures. It is located at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City. Roy Lichtenstein was one of the founders and innovators of pop art, which brought the techniques and content of mechanically reproduced imagery into the world of fine art. His hallmark style was hand painting commercially printed ben-day dots. Lichtenstein’s paintings are often seen as ironic or satirical accounts of art history. Today, his works are held in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago
