Max’s "Cosmic" period began as he studied meditation, yoga and Eastern mysticism. He also gives some credit for the colorful and abstract imagery he was able to create to the invention of the Pentel felt-tip pen because it allowed continual, smooth lines to be drawn without having to stop and dip his pen in ink!
