Olympic Rings

(After) Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960–1988) and Andy Warhol (1928–1987) “Olympic Rings” is a limited edition (39/150) lithograph with a printed signature and moniker of Basquiat. It measures approximately 11 x 15 inches (28 x 38.5 cm). The image was created in 1985 as a collaboration between the two iconic artists and inspired by the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Warhol made several variations of the Olympic five-ring symbol in the original primary colors against a white background. Basquiat blacked out the middles of some of the circles, inserted various shapes and faces into the print including a bold, dark, mask-like head in his graffiti style.
