Keith Haring (1958 – 1990, USA) “The Fertility Suite – Untitled #3” - Limited-edition silkscreen reproduction of Haring’s 1983 image; plate signed and hand numbered (85/200) in the lower left margin on heavy weight museum board paper that measures 36 x 43 inches. The Fertility series of 5 screen prints was created by Haring to both celebrate fertility and life as well as draw attention to the fears faced by pregnant women living with HIV/AIDS. Neon hues of red, pink, green, and orange against a black background are used to depict a pregnant woman while 9 other bright yellow figures anxiously and agitatedly dance around her. Haring’s use of dots and circles in and around her body refer to the scars or lesions commonly associated with the AIDS virus and the threat posed to the pregnant woman.
