Peter Max (b. 1937, German American) “Angel into Box” (1976) Limited edition color lithograph, hand signed by the artist in the lower right and numbered 219/300 in the lower left in pencil. The 9 x 10.5-inch image has been double matted and placed in a gold tone frame with Plexiglass that measures 16 x 17.5 inches. Depicted is a winged figure accompanied by colorful floating images (flowers?) appearing to be entering a square box. Angels are one of Peter Max's favorite subjects and have appeared frequently in the artist's work since the 1960s. The work of art was printed by The American Atelier and the blind stamp of the publisher, Circle Fine Art of Chicago, appears in the lower left of the piece.
