(After) Frederic Remington (1861 – 1909, American) “Wounded Bunkie” – Bronze reproduction of the 1896 statue by the renowned artist of the American West. Two U.S. Cavalry soldiers are riding away from an unknown enemy who has injured one bunkmate while the other supports him with one arm in an exhibition of valor and brotherhood. At this instant in time, the sculpture, soldiers, and horses are being supported by only one hoof of each horse on the base in a masterful depiction of the nature and anatomy of the galloping animals. The cast bronze sculpture with dark patina has the signed name of Frederic Remington in the lower edge of the statue and is mounted to a granite base. The 10.75 x 6 x 12.5-inch work of art is in excellent condition.
