Description

(After) Frederic Remington (1861 – 1909, American) “Cowboy” – Bronze reproduction of the 1908 large-scale statue commissioned by Fairmount Park in Philadelphia and created by the renowned artist of the American West. His only monument-size sculpture, Remington modeled the cowboy on Pennsylvania native, Charlie Trego who was a friend from the artist’s days as a cowboy in Montana. The trooper has turned from his saddle in a brusque stare. He has tugged on the bit and the horse slows its pace, neighing. The cast bronze sculpture with dark patina has the signed name of Frederic Remington in the lower edge of the statue. The 13.75 x 6.25 x 14-inch sculpture is mounted to a rectangular granite base and is in excellent condition, but with a tiny chip to a corner of the granite.
