Description

Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988) “Banana” a/k/a “Brown Spots (Portraits of Andy Warhol as a Banana)” - This reproduction is from a limited edition (34/150) lithograph with a printed signature and moniker of Basquiat in the margin. It is based on the original 76 by 84-inch acrylic and oil on canvas that the artist painted in 1984. The unframed sheet measures approximately 15 x 11.25 inches. It is a portrait of Andy Warhol as a banana, a sly reference to the 1967 “peel and see” album cover Warhol did for American rock band, the Velvet Underground, featuring a simple yellow banana.
