It is based on the original 88 by 80- inch acrylic, crayon, and oil paint stick on canvas work that the artist painted in 1983. The unframed sheet measures approximately 15 x 11.25 inches. The figurative, neo-expressionist work contains several examples of recurrent images and words employed by the artist. Included are: crown of thorns, spine, blood (sangue, in Italian), teeth, a pumping heart, and corpus.
