Description

(After) Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988) and Andy Warhol (1928-1987); Untitled (Collaboration #23) This reproduction is a limited edition (42/150) lithograph, with signature imprimee (printed) and moniker of Basquiat. The image is one of the works resulting from the artistic collaboration between Basquiat and Warhol. It is based on the (approximately) 9.5 x 9-foot original painting in acrylic and oil stick on canvas that the artists created in 1984-1985. The unframed sheet measures 15 x 11 inches. Warhol drew two giant size steaks on the canvas and included the price and the quality certification label as represented in a newspaper advertisement. Basquiat then “attacked” the painting by adding rebellious, disruptive items including a crocodile head, a toilet, a glass, and orange brushstrokes. The result is a colorful, bold collaboration between the two icons.
